I am an avid practitioner of Pilates and have been doing Pilates for over 9 years.Recently I have become “certified” in Pilates Matt-work and have started teaching Pilates privately. Currently I am working on making Pilates accessable to all people and I find that keeping my lessons private enables me to keep my rates affordable . In the future I would like to start my own studio.
My interest in Pilates started when I had the opportunity to work for ( as a personal administration assistant) an amazing Pilates instructor. She really taught me the principles of The Pilates method. To say I was instantly hooked , is and understatement.
Through out the years I have moved around ( even changing continents) and have had many Pilates teachers. Some were great, unfortunately some were awful. Since I had started my “Pilates education” in a well-known and well-run Pilates studio, where all the great principles were applied. I was horrified when I realised how much the teachers of Pilates can differ. In many Gyms today Pilates is applied as “just another exercise” , and is often taught by unqualified instructors who , in some cases , have only attended a weekend course “certification” and have never even attended a Pilates class ! So unfortunately many of the people who try a Pilates class , come away wondering what the “big deal” is about. If you are one of those people I encourage you to read my blog regularly and I will endeavor to help you realise how Pilates can help you.
If you have just started doing Pilates( whether at a gym, privately, or with home DVD’s) , or would like to start. I invite you to join me as you continue your Journey to achieving your life and fitness goals. You will be privy to my Journey through the authentic Pilates world, as I work towards maintaining the true goals of The Pilates method.
Feel free to ask questions and all constructive criticism is welcomed.
